Election 2024: I didn’t lose because I’m a Muslim – Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP's 2024 Presidential candidate, has rejected claims about his religion and ethnicity. He stated these factors did not cause the party's election loss.

Bawumia noted that he, a Muslim, outperformed Christian candidates in Christian areas. He shared this analysis with party supporters at their headquarters.

He explained that data shows he performed better than Christian parliamentary candidates. "We had ten contestants in the primaries," he said. "I was one Muslim among nine Christians."

He added that if religion influenced voting, he wouldn't have done so well. His analysis contradicts the idea that religion affected voter choices.

Additionally, Dr. Bawumia expressed satisfaction with Prof. Mike Ocquaye’s report. He mentioned changes to aspects of the party's delegate system based on this review committee's work.
