Ex-Signals Bureau Boss and wife sue Attorney General for defamation

Kwabena Adu-Boahen, former head of the Signals Bureau, and his wife have filed a defamation lawsuit. They are suing Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine. This follows comments made during a press conference on March 24, 2025.

During the briefing, Dr. Ayine accused the couple of various crimes. The couple claims these accusations are false and damaging. They argue that the statements were made without justification.

In their writ filed on April 24, they seek exemplary and punitive damages. They describe Dr. Ayine’s remarks as “highly offensive” and defamatory. The couple believes these comments have harmed their reputations personally and professionally.

Their statement of claim includes several requests to the court:
a. Exemplary and punitive damages for publishing defamatory material about them.
b. An order to prevent further publication of similar defamatory statements.
c. Costs, including lawyer's fees.

They assert that Dr. Ayine’s comments have caused irreparable harm to their public standing. According to court procedures, Dr. Ayine has eight days to respond to the suit after being served. If he fails to respond, a default judgment may be entered against him.
