A fact-finding report led by Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has blamed the NPP’s 2024 electoral defeat on Akufo-Addo’s leadership style, internal party structures, and flawed candidate selection processes.
The report cites Akufo-Addo’s perceived rigidity, family-centered appointments, and refusal to reshuffle key ministers like Ken Ofori-Atta as major factors.
It also notes that 78% of respondents saw Dr. Bawumia as too closely linked to Akufo-Addo, affecting his appeal.
Additionally, the NPP’s delegate system was criticized for fostering exclusion and monetization.
The report recommends urgent reforms, including restructuring the party’s internal processes, adopting merit-based appointments, and resolving internal conflicts swiftly to restore voter confidence.
Strengthening ties with grassroots supporters and traditional allies was also highlighted as crucial for the party’s future success.
