Minister of State for Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has proposed a shorter transition period after elections to prevent post-election violence and vandalism.
Speaking on Channel One TV, he argued that the delay in handing over power creates a governance gap, leading to tensions and unrest.
He linked recent destruction of state property, allegedly by NDC supporters, to grievances over the 2016 transition.
“The incoming government has no control, while the outgoing administration loses interest. This creates a gap exploited by party activists seeking revenge,” he stated.
Kwakye Ofosu urged reforms to tighten transition processes, stressing that a quicker handover would enhance security and prevent political retaliation.
