Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been re-elected as MP for Bolgatanga East.
He defeated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Mathew Silas Amoah, with 12,002 votes to Amoah's 7,415.
While pleased with his victory, Dr. Ayine expressed disappointment over not achieving a larger margin.
He alleged that voter inducement by the NPP in poverty-affected areas contributed to the reduced margin, citing instances of cash distribution during the elections.
Despite this, Dr. Ayine remains confident in the continued support of his constituents and highlighted the NDC's development track record in the district since 2012.
