Calls for lower data prices are growing. A tweet from Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has gained attention.
In his tweet, Ablakwa emphasized that data is not a luxury. He argued that high data costs harm Ghana's democracy. Many citizens cannot afford to participate in democratic processes.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is currently in power. Despite the renewed calls for reduced data prices, Ablakwa has not commented on this issue.
Minister of Communications Sam Nartey George previously criticized his predecessor for high data prices. Now, he tells Ghanaians he cannot remove tariffs on data. These tariffs contribute to rising prices.
