Kumasi-based Pure FM has reported that the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) has released Osei Assibey Antwi, the former Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA). He was freed on March 22, 2025, three days after his detention.
His release follows growing concerns over his health while in custody, which had been widely reported in the media.
The circumstances surrounding his arrest and detention remain under investigation.
Osei Assibey arrived at his Accra residence at approximately 10:28 PM, where he was welcomed by his family.
According to Pure FM, he expressed his shock at the experience, stating, “I haven’t experienced anything like this before.”
The NIB is currently investigating allegations of payroll fraud within the NSA under its previous leadership.
Before Osei Assibey’s detention, the bureau had also held two former deputy directors as part of its ongoing probe.
