Four NDC PCs urge Court to dismiss NPP’s Mandamus, file affidavits in opposition

National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Democratic Congress (NDC)

Four National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidates have filed affidavits opposing Mandamus Applications at the High Court, following a Supreme Court directive.

The candidates—Ebi Bright (Tema Central), Baba Sadiq (Okaikwei Central), Awurabena Aubynn (Ablekuma North), and Christopher Beyere (Techiman Central)—seek to dismiss the applications filed by their New Patriotic Party (NPP) counterparts over disputed election results.

The NDC candidates argue that issues like alleged fraud and violence require evidence and judicial determination, not administrative action by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Awurabena Aubynn emphasized the absence of any formal complaints of violence, while Ebi Bright called for a merit-based evaluation of election disputes.

Baba Sadiq and Christopher Beyere contended that once results are declared, the EC’s role ends, and any challenges must be resolved in court.

The High Court is set to hear the applications on Tuesday.
