Francis-Xavier Sosu honours NDC branch executives, launches GHC1m Welfare Fund

On Sunday, April 27, Francis-Xavier Sosu, the MP for Madina, held a ceremony. This event honored branch executives who helped secure victories for the NDC in recent elections.

The colorful celebration took place at the Astro Turf in Madina. It gathered 3,889 party executives from all 321 polling stations. Attendees included Ward Coordinators, Secretaries, Organizers, Zonal Leaders, Assembly Members, and Unit Committee Members. The event aimed to appreciate their dedication and hard work during the campaigns.

In his speech, Mr. Sosu announced various awards and incentives. He said branches with the highest votes would receive special recognition. Prizes included motorcycles, laptops, tricycles, foreign trips, scholarships, job placements, and cash rewards.

Sosu emphasized that these awards recognize sacrifices made by grassroots members. He stated that their politics would be transformational rather than transactional.

A key highlight was launching a One Million Ghana Cedis Welfare Scheme. This initiative is called "Madina Potwesi." The fund starts with an initial deposit of GHC 100,000. It aims to provide medical and emergency support for dedicated grassroots members. Sosu urged philanthropists to contribute to ensure its sustainability.

He also shared emotional moments about campaigners lost during elections. He paid tribute to Nathaniel and others who sacrificed their lives. Sosu stressed the importance of supporting party members in both political and personal matters.

The event recognized financiers and donors crucial to the NDC's success in Madina. Many attendees viewed this occasion as historic for acknowledging branch executives' roles in political victories.

The ceremony concluded with music and dance. All members present renewed their commitment to work harder for future NDC successes.
