Fresh logistics hosts FARA delegation, showcases youth-led greenhouse agribusiness innovation

Fresh Logistics Limited (FLL) hosted a delegation from the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) on June 6. The event took place at FLL's greenhouse cluster farm in Dawhenya, Accra.

The 70-member delegation included researchers from Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso, Togo, Senegal, Kenya, Namibia, and Germany. Traditional leaders and officials from various public institutions also attended.

This visit was part of the Status Seminar on Sustainable Land Management in Sub-Saharan Africa. The seminar ran from June 2 to June 6. Its theme was “Improving Livelihoods through Local Research Initiatives within the Strategy of the Platform Research for Sustainability (FONA).”

The field visit aimed to showcase FLL’s innovative greenhouse production systems. It particularly highlighted youth-led vegetable farming and agribusiness.

Mr. Boamah Okyere, Managing Director of Fresh Logistics, welcomed the delegation warmly. He was joined by Mr. Larry Selorm Amekuse and other senior staff members. Mr. Boamah led an extensive tour of the greenhouse facility.

During the tour, he explained key operational processes like nursery management and irrigation systems. He also discussed pest control methods and market distribution strategies.

Mr. Boamah emphasized FLL’s commitment to sustainable vegetable production and technology adoption. He stated that empowering youth is crucial for Africa’s agricultural future.

Dr. Tina Beuchelt from the University of Bonn praised Fresh Logistics for its professionalism and gender-sensitive practices. She noted the active involvement of youth and women in leadership roles.

Benjamin Amukri from FARA described the visit as inspirational and fitting for the seminar's conclusion. He highlighted that Fresh Logistics has created a practical model for agricultural transformation across Africa.

The team also visited the Ghana Irrigation Development Authority (GIDA) site at Dawhenya during their trip.

Fresh Logistics expressed appreciation for hosting FARA and reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with partners to strengthen food systems across Africa.
