Dr. Charity Binka, Chairperson of the African Women Leaders Network (AWLN), Ghana Chapter, has urged President John Mahama to honor his pledge to appoint 30 percent women to his government, as stated in his 2024 manifesto.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Dr. Binka emphasized that fulfilling this promise would significantly advance women's empowerment and political participation.

She highlighted the Affirmative Action Act, which mandates 30 percent women in leadership roles by 2026 and aims for gender parity by 2030.

Dr. Binka stressed the importance of political will and swift action from the Mahama administration to address gender imbalances across key sectors like board appointments and diplomatic posts.

She also commended the election of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as Ghana's first female Vice President, calling it a landmark achievement for women's leadership in the country.
