GAF Commanders donate one-month salary to support Mahama Cares

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Service Commanders have made a donation. They contributed their one-month basic salary to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, known as Mahama Cares. This initiative aims to help vulnerable citizens with serious health issues. These include cancer, cardiovascular diseases, chronic kidney failure, and stroke.

On May 16, Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier General William Agyapong spoke on behalf of the commanders. He emphasized the fund's importance in supporting those most in need. “It is heartwarming to know that people with these conditions will benefit,” he said.

President John Dramani Mahama received the donation. He leads the Mahama Cares initiative and expressed gratitude for the Armed Forces' support. “This shows your patriotism and compassion,” he stated.

Mahama acknowledged their primary duty is national defense but praised their caring nature. “You have love for the country and its people,” he added. On behalf of Ghanaians, he thanked them for their contribution.
