The Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA) is urging calm amid rising tensions. This follows the recent nomination of a Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bole Bamboi Municipality.
In a press release, GLYA President Al-Hassan Baba Darison acknowledged the youth's passion for development. On April 25, a local group called Arise Bole Youth opposed Abdulai Mahmud’s appointment as MCE. They claimed he is not an active NDC member and lacks popularity.
The GLYA has called on everyone to stay calm. They warned against actions that could harm peace and unity in the area. "We recognize the genuine passion of our youth," they stated.
The association is engaging with stakeholders like traditional authorities and political leaders. Their goal is to resolve the issue amicably for Bole's best interest. They also praised those working behind the scenes to address concerns constructively.
GLYA appealed to youth to prioritize peace and unity over confrontation. They remain committed to advocating for fairness and transparency in Gonjaland. "Let us stand together in peace," they urged, as they work toward a resolution that benefits all of Bole.
