Ghana at risk due to regional insecurity -Mahama

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has acknowledged that Ghana is at risk within the ECOWAS region, stressing the need for proactive measures to prevent the situation from escalating.

In an interview with DW News Africa, Mahama highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for the youth to avoid radicalization and addressing the high unemployment rate by stabilizing the economy and encouraging private sector growth.

On illegal mining, Mahama criticized the current government's approach, vowing to ban mining in forest reserves and water bodies.

His government plans to regulate small-scale mining and introduce technology for land reclamation, with support from international partners to create jobs for former miners.
