Go negotiate a plea bargain – Tanko-Computer to Adu-Boahen

Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer is the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He has urged former National Signals Bureau (NSB) boss Kwabena Adu-Boahene to consider a plea bargain. Adu-Boahene may face a long jail term over what the NDC calls a “fabricated and politically charged” memo.

On May 9, Tanko-Computer spoke to Joy News. He dismissed allegations that the NDC received GH¢8 million from the NSB. He suggested that Adu-Boahene could face serious criminal consequences.

“They should negotiate a plea bargain,” he said. “Otherwise, he could be looking at 25 years.” Tanko-Computer believes these actions might breach national security and financial regulations.

The memo in question allegedly came from Adu-Boahene. It claimed that the NSB gave millions to opposition parties, including the NDC, for election logistics before 2024 elections. The NDC has denied this claim, calling it “rubbish.”

Tanko-Computer questioned why his opponent would fund him to win an election. He ridiculed the idea that the ruling party would secretly support its main rival.

Legal observers note that Tanko-Computer’s mention of a possible 25-year sentence raises important questions. They wonder what laws might have been violated and if there is enough evidence for criminal investigations into state fund misuse.

The NDC's stance shows a growing demand for accountability from both accused individuals and state institutions. “These guys are just clutching at straws,” Tanko-Computer warned. “It won’t help them.”
