Private lawyer Martin Kpebu has criticized former Attorney-General Godfred Dame. He claims Dame breached professional ethics during the Ambulance purchase trial.
On TV3’s Keypoints, Kpebu stated, “We were clear that Godfred Dame breached ethics.”
He added, “The outcome of the GLC’s investigation doesn’t matter. We heard what Dame said in the tape, and it was unethical. The GLC can say otherwise.”
Kpebu referred to an audio recording used as evidence in court. In this recording, Dame allegedly tried to influence Richard Jakpa's testimony. Kpebu stressed the need for public accountability and said, “We cannot wait for the GLC decision.”
He insisted on holding Dame accountable publicly before any investigation. “This matter has embarrassed us,” he concluded.
In another issue, Godfred Yeboah Dame is under scrutiny again. He is representing suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo in her Supreme Court case.
Dame filed a suit on May 21 against the process to remove the Chief Justice from office. This suit targets current Attorney-General Dr. Dominic Ayine as the respondent.
It seeks an injunction to stop a five-member committee investigating petitions against the Chief Justice. The suit also asks the Supreme Court to prevent Justices Gabriel Scott Pwamang and Samuel Kwame Adibu-Asiedu from participating due to impartiality concerns.
Speaking on Joy News, Dame denied any conflict of interest in his legal role. He stated, “My actions are within the law and defend judicial independence.”
