The Ministry of Roads and Highways has suspended the implementation of the National Roads Authority Act 2024 (Act 1118) to allow further stakeholder consultations.

The Act, passed by Parliament in July 2024, seeks to enhance road infrastructure management by merging the Ghana Highway Authority, the Department of Urban Roads, and the Department of Feeder Roads into a single entity for better coordination.

However, in a statement issued on February 7, the Ministry cited concerns raised by key stakeholders as the reason for the suspension.

The government says the move reflects its commitment to addressing critical issues before proceeding with the Act’s execution.
