Govt not using military to intimidate voters – Deputy Agric Minister

Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Sugri Bamagne, has denied claims that the government's military presence in northern Ghana is meant to intimidate voters.

The accusation, made by MP James Agalga, suggested the deployment was a cover for voter suppression.

Dr. Bamagne clarified on "The Big Issues" TV program that the military's role is to enforce the grain export ban and ensure food security, which he stressed is the government's top priority.

He dismissed concerns about voter intimidation as misplaced, emphasizing that food security is crucial to national stability.
