Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim has defended the government’s decision to scale down Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebration, citing the need for prudent management of limited resources.
In an interview on Channel One Newsroom on March 6, she acknowledged concerns over the reduced participation of schoolchildren but assured that future celebrations would be more inclusive while maintaining cost efficiency.
“As we review the process, we will adopt an approach that is both inclusive and diverse, yet mindful of our economic realities,” she stated.
Shamima reiterated that the current economic challenges necessitated a modest commemoration, emphasizing that the decision was driven by financial prudence rather than disregard for tradition.
