Govt transfers GH¢987.9m to DACF for Q1 – Ato Forson

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced a transfer of GH¢987,965,730. This amount is the first-quarter allocation for 2025 to the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).

He addressed Parliament on Tuesday, June 3. The funds were released from the Consolidated Fund on Monday, June 2. This action shows the government's commitment to strengthening local governance.

Dr. Forson stated that the DACF received this amount as of June 2. He emphasized that 80% of these funds must go directly to district assemblies.

"The Administrator of the DACF must ensure this transfer," he said. He added that expenditure returns should be submitted to the Ministry of Finance before any further releases.

Dr. Forson urged Members of Parliament to monitor fund usage in their constituencies. They should ensure compliance with cabinet-approved directives regarding fund utilization.

"Honorable Members are encouraged to oversee how these funds are used," he said. This monitoring aligns with guidelines set by President John Dramani Mahama's cabinet.
