He’s not a thief or war leader – Wontumi’s brother questions EOCO’s tactics

Oheneba Antwi Boasiako is the brother of politician Bernard Antwi Boasiako. Bernard is popularly known as Chairman Wontumi. Oheneba has raised concerns about his brother's arrest by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).

In a statement, he described the events surrounding the arrest. They had just finished a session with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID). This occurred at 3 PM on that day. After about 15 minutes, they completed their business at CID.

As they left, armed men in five cars surrounded them. The officers claimed they were instructed to take Chairman Wontumi to their office. Oheneba was shocked by how EOCO handled the situation.

He noted that their approach lacked courtesy and respect for rights. He wanted to accompany his brother but was denied access.

Oheneba questioned why such force was used for the arrest. He emphasized that his brother is not a criminal. “Wontumi is not a thief nor a war leader,” he stated.

He suggested there was no reason to treat him like a fugitive. Oheneba also warned those in power about unchecked authority. “Power is transient,” he said, urging caution in governance.
