President John Dramani Mahama has called on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to use his influence to support efforts in tackling Ghana’s economic challenges.
During the first Akwasidae celebration of the year at the Manhyia Palace on January 19, Mahama highlighted the nation’s economic crisis, characterized by inflation, a depreciating cedi, and a debt default.
He praised the Asantehene for his past contributions to fostering economic stability and pledged to complete abandoned projects in the Ashanti Region, especially in healthcare.
“As we face this daunting challenge, I will occasionally call on you, knowing your unwavering support for Ghana’s progress,” Mahama stated.
The Asantehene, through Dasebre Osei Bonsu II, urged Mahama to honour his promises to the Asante Kingdom and the nation.
