Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, former running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 presidential election, has reiterated his commitment to party unity as the NPP looks toward its future leadership.
Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, April 16, he stressed that his current focus is on consolidating internal cohesion to pave the way for a smooth flagbearer selection process ahead of the 2028 elections.
“My interest now is to get a united party for a flagbearer to be eventually crowned,” Prempeh stated.
Addressing growing speculation about his political intentions, he firmly denied any plans to contest the party’s flagbearership in 2028.
“No, I am not running 2028,” he said, bringing clarity to discussions around his future within the party.
His comments come amid ongoing conversations within the NPP about its leadership direction following the 2024 general elections.
