Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has rejected calls to suspend the Thank You tour. This comes after Kennedy Agyapong withdrew due to security concerns.
Speaking on The Pulse on JoyNews, Nana B emphasized that the tour was decided by the party's National Council. He stated, "I disagree with anyone who says we need to suspend the tour."
Agyapong announced his withdrawal, citing threats against his campaign team. However, Nana B urged caution and advised against creating tensions within the party.
He said, "Nobody should try to create an unfortunate incident between Bawumia and Agyapong." He noted that Agyapong has consistently preached peace during the campaign.
Mr. Boakye acknowledged that the NPP faced a “humiliating defeat” in the 2024 elections. He believes the Thank You tour is essential for unity and rebuilding.
He mentioned, "We should have started this tour months ago." The delay was due to Prof Mike Oquaye’s report presented two weeks ago.
Despite not winning, he stressed the importance of appreciating supporters' efforts. He said they need to explain what happened and emphasize unity for future success.
This tour includes all presidential aspirants as a symbol of party unity. Mr. Boakye explained that it was a collective decision by the party and its candidates.
Addressing challenges during the tour, he encouraged members to confront issues head-on. He stated, "You don’t run away from challenges; you deal with them."
Nana B firmly disagreed with those suggesting a suspension of the tour. He believes facing these issues now will lead to better resolutions later.
