Former Dome Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo has defended her decision to abstain from the controversial E-Levy vote in 2022, stating she has no regrets.

Speaking on Asempa FM, she revealed that consultations with constituents, particularly church members, convinced her that the levy would burden Ghanaians.

Torn between party loyalty and public interest, she chose to prioritize the concerns of her people.

She urged MPs to adopt principle-based voting rather than blindly following party directives, arguing it would strengthen Ghana’s democracy.

Adwoa Safo also acknowledged that the E-Levy’s passage contributed to the NPP’s electoral struggles but maintained her stand was in the best interest of her constituents.

She dismissed claims of impersonation during the vote, insisting she was present.
