Former UN Governance Advisor, Professor Baffour Agyeman-Duah, says President John Mahama’s decision to replace Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare with COP Christian Tetteh Yohonu is a standard governance practice.
Speaking on JoyNews, he argued that leadership changes are normal, stating, “Any president coming into power will naturally want top officers who align with his vision.”
His remarks come amid mixed reactions to the IGP’s removal, with some law enforcement officers reportedly welcoming the change.
However, he cautioned that such decisions must be made carefully to avoid destabilizing the system.
