Kwame Asare-Obeng, known as A Plus, is the MP for Gomoa Central. He claims he funded his entire parliamentary campaign himself. He did not receive any financial support from political elites.
On May 4, he spoke on the Upside Down Show on Channel One TV. A Plus emphasized his independence from traditional political structures. He highlighted his loyalty to grassroots supporters.
“I ran my campaign. No big man can say I took money,” he stated confidently. “Kwame A Plus is grounded. I have money.”
He also shared experiences from election day. He alleged that operatives from both NPP and NDC tried to interfere with voting. A Plus resisted their attempts and positioned himself as a representative of ordinary Ghanaians.
“On election day, they came to cause trouble—I showed them who I am,” he said. A Plus is a musician-turned-politician and social commentator. He ran as an independent candidate in the 2024 elections and won the Gomoa Central seat, changing the political landscape of the constituency.
