Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, has vowed to prioritize the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) if confirmed by Parliament.
Speaking during his vetting on January 21, Ahmed assured that the initiative, launched under the Akufo-Addo administration, would receive renewed attention to improve district road networks and support economic growth.
Highlighting the challenges DRIP has faced, including delays and resource mismanagement, Ahmed stressed the need for proper monitoring and efficient use of the machinery and funds invested in the programme.
“The machines were procured to improve untarred district roads, and we cannot let such an investment go to waste. We need proper structures, agreements, and systems to ensure its success,” he emphasized.
Ahmed reaffirmed his commitment to bridging infrastructural gaps to drive local economic and social development.
