Gomoa Central legislator, Kwame Asare Obeng, known as A-Plus, has denied receiving payment to influence the National Service Secretariat (NSS) scandal.
On Friday, he issued a statement clarifying his position. This followed accusations linked to a fake social media account impersonating him.
The controversy began after Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine held a press conference. He referenced claims from the fake account and called for A-Plus to answer questions about the NSS scandal.
In his statement, A-Plus said: "I have never received any payment from the NSS. I have no business with the Secretariat. I have never contacted anyone to suppress or influence this matter."
He revealed that his only connection was in November 2024. An individual approached him, claiming he was falsely accused in the scandal.
A-Plus wanted to help this person seek media redress. He stated: "As a media personality and majority shareholder in a Ghanaian media company, I offered my assistance."
He added that if his support is seen as an attempt to suppress the case, he disagrees.
"I firmly believe that every accused person deserves to be heard," he concluded.
