Acting Director-General of the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), Mohammed Abdul Salam, has defended his presidential appointment, emphasizing competence as the key factor.
Speaking to Citi FM, Salam highlighted that Ghana is a secular state where religion does not dictate leadership roles.
He refuted claims linking his appointment to his faith, stating, "Religion has nothing to do with governance."
Salam, who previously worked as a lotto agent, expressed disbelief over criticism of his elevation, noting that his earlier roles did not attract such opposition.
He explained that the appointing authority selected him based on his capabilities to lead the NLA effectively.
Salam has formally accepted the role and pledged to serve with dedication, dismissing concerns over his suitability.
