Kwame Asare Obeng, known as A Plus, is the MP for Gomoa Central. He has denied calling Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine corrupt or a thief.
A Plus stated that a social media post was from a fake account. He has no control over this impersonator account.
He said, “My official remarks about the sanitation levy are on my verified Facebook page. They are clear and accessible to everyone. I never used the words corrupt or thief.”
He urged Ghanaians to check his Facebook page for accurate information. The impersonator account distorted his position to create confusion.
A Plus apologized to Dr. Ayine for the insulting post after his press conference. He acknowledged he could have handled it better.
He understands Dr. Ayine’s frustration with the impersonation account's offensive remarks. However, he feels powerless against that account's existence and content.
Regarding his own response on Facebook, A Plus admitted he wrote that post. He reflected on it and found his tone and words inappropriate.
As an MP and junior colleague, he sincerely apologized to Dr. Ayine, the public, the NDC party, and Parliament. He fully retracts those words and believes he could have been more respectful.
A Plus takes full responsibility for his actions and words. As a sign of remorse, he deleted the controversial post—something he rarely does.
