Minister of State for Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has stated that Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare does not need to commit any wrongdoing to be replaced.
Speaking on Channel 1 Television, Kwakye Ofosu explained that security agency heads are often changed with new administrations, and a decision to replace Dampare would not be unusual.
“The President may think a new direction is needed at the police headquarters. It wouldn’t be because the IGP has done anything wrong, but rather a leadership decision,” he said.
His comments come amid speculation over potential leadership changes in key security institutions under President Mahama’s administration.
