As Ghana faces political tensions surrounding its fiscal policies, an IMF delegation is set to arrive in Accra on February 8, 2025, to hold key talks with government officials ahead of the 2025 Budget presentation.
With President John Mahama's administration already under scrutiny for its handling of the economy, the IMF's involvement is crucial in shaping the budget’s direction.
Discussions will focus on debt management, tax policies, and whether proposed tax cuts, such as removing the COVID-19 Levy, could create a significant revenue gap.
The visit underscores the government's efforts to balance political pressure with fiscal responsibility, as both parties seek to align their visions for Ghana’s economic future.
