If I were Ablakwa, I'd resign – Dominic Nitiwul over Veep's private jet use

Former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul has called for Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to resign. He accuses Ablakwa of breaking a promise about using private jets for presidential travel.

This demand follows similar calls from NDC members. They want the Minister to step down after reports that Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang returned on a private jet.

On Joy News' Top Story, Mr. Nitiwul recalled Ablakwa's strong opposition to private jet use while in opposition. He often criticized these travel arrangements as wasteful and unnecessary.

Ablakwa had promised he would resign if the government continued renting private jets. “I think that excuse is laughable,” Mr. Nitiwul stated.

“Nobody asked Honourable Ablakwa to make that promise,” he added. “He didn’t say it would depend on circumstances.”

Mr. Nitiwul urged, “If I were him, I would resign immediately.” He believes Ablakwa should honor his commitment as a man of principle.

The promise was clear and unconditional, according to Mr. Nitiwul. “He never said, ‘If this happens’ or ‘If that doesn’t happen.’”

“It’s up to him to respond,” he continued. “If he doesn’t, the people of Ghana will judge him accordingly.”

He dismissed any justification for changing his stance based on circumstances. “Trying to say that circumstances have changed won’t work at all.”
