Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has debunked viral rumors claiming Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has passed away.
Addressing Ghanaians in Lagos, Nigeria, he described the social media speculation as “vicious” and “unGhanaian,” urging the public to disregard such falsehoods.
“I want to assure you that she is doing very well,” he said. “I have heard from her personally—your prayers are working.”
The Vice President reportedly fell ill on March 28 after work and was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).
Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu later confirmed she was advised to seek further medical attention abroad.
Ablakwa emphasized that there is no cause for alarm, and the Vice President is expected to resume her official duties soon.
