In the name of God and Ghana stop galamsey – Dr Omane Boamah begs illegal miners

Defence Minister Dr. Omane Boamah has made a heartfelt appeal to illegal miners, urging them to cease activities that are devastating Ghana’s water bodies and forest reserves.

In a social media post, he invoked the name of God, pleading with miners to abandon their operations and instead seek proper regulatory permits.

Dr. Boamah emphasized that no one resides in the forest reserves and warned against further destruction.

Before the 2024 elections, he had accused officials in the previous government of benefiting from illegal mining, blaming regional executives, DCEs, and ministers for environmental degradation.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling galamsey and ensuring responsible mining practices are upheld.
