The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has made a request. He wants President John Mahama to suspend Mr. Sammy Gyamfi from his role as acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod). This suspension should happen while investigations into his conduct take place.
Mr. Gyamfi was seen gifting bundles of US dollars to evangelist Nana Agradaa on May 10, 2025. The incident was captured in widely circulated videos showing him in his Range Rover.
At a news conference on May 13, Mr. Boakye stressed the importance of leadership and accountability. He pointed out recent controversies involving senior public officials.
Boakye stated, “We call on the President to interdict Mr. Sammy Gyamfi as acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board.” He emphasized that this should happen pending an investigation by state authorities.
He compared this situation to former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah's case. Dapaah resigned after reports surfaced about large sums of money stolen from her home.
Boakye noted that Dapaah had a long history of public service and a reputable family background. She served as an MP since 2001 and held various ministerial roles.
Under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Dapaah stepped aside for thorough investigations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
“Investigations were conducted against Madam Cecilia Dapaah and her husband,” he said, referring to seven months of extensive inquiry.
The NPP is now urging President Mahama to take similar action for transparency and public trust.
