Interior Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has justified the actions of national security operatives who attempted to arrest Akwatia MP Ernest Yaw Kumi following his conviction for contempt.
Addressing Parliament on March 18, he stated that the officers acted lawfully, executing a warrant issued by the Koforidua High Court on February 19, 2025.
The MP was found guilty for attending the swearing-in of MPs despite an injunction application against him.
However, the Supreme Court, by a 4-1 decision on February 26, placed a stay on his sentencing pending a motion to overturn the ruling.
