Kofi Bentil, Vice President of Imani Ghana, criticized the toll booth system, calling it inefficient and costly.
His remarks followed Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson’s announcement to reinstate toll collection nationwide.
Bentil argued that the time and resources spent at toll booths for minimal returns were wasteful, highlighting the disproportionate costs involved. He questioned the practicality of the system, saying it doesn’t justify the time spent for a small fee.
Franklin Cudjoe, President of Imani Ghana, supported the critique, proposing an electronic tolling system to reduce congestion.
Bentil agreed, suggesting alternative methods like incorporating tolls into licensing fees or using electronic systems to avoid delays. Both called for modernization to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
