It’s not defiance, it’s health – Ibrahim Adjei defends Ken Ofori-Atta’s absence from OSP probe

Ibrahim Adjei, a former assistant to ex-President Akufo-Addo, defended Ken Ofori-Atta. He stated that the former Finance Minister is not avoiding the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). Instead, medical challenges are preventing him from attending.

Adjei spoke during an interview on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on June 2. He emphasized that Ofori-Atta's inability to travel is due to health issues, not unwillingness.

Public speculation has increased about Ofori-Atta's absence from the OSP. Some believe he may be deliberately avoiding the investigation. However, Adjei called this narrative unfair and inaccurate.

He noted that Ofori-Atta has never refused to appear before the OSP. The former minister has communicated his location and ongoing treatment while the OSP is away.

Adjei also mentioned that Ofori-Atta's medical issue is not new. “Nobody can accuse him of a last-minute excuse,” he said. His health situation existed before the current request from the OSP. Ultimately, it is up to the OSP to determine how to proceed given these circumstances.
