It was a private act of kindness – Sammy Gyamfi responds to backlash over viral Agradaa video

Sammy Gyamfi is the National Communications Officer of the NDC. He recently faced backlash over a viral video. The video shows him giving dollar notes to Nana Agradaa, a controversial religious figure.

Many criticized Gyamfi for this action. They felt it was inappropriate for a public official known for integrity.

On May 12, Gyamfi addressed the issue in a Facebook statement. He explained that his gesture was meant to be personal and kind.

“I have noticed the criticisms against me in the last 24 hours,” he said. “This was simply a kind gesture to someone in need.”

Gyamfi stressed that he did not intend for this act to be public. “I thought I was helping in private,” he added. “It’s unfortunate that it became public.”

He acknowledged the disappointment from his party supporters. “I understand why my comrades are upset,” he said. “To those hurt, I am sincerely sorry.”

Despite the criticism, Gyamfi reaffirmed his commitment to public service. He believes serving society is a privilege and remains focused on his duties.

He concluded with well wishes for Mother’s Day: “Stay blessed and have a blissful Sunday.”

The incident has sparked discussions about political figures associating with controversial individuals like Agradaa.
