It will be unwise for NPP Minority to nominate a candidate for speakership—Joe Wise

Bekwai MP Joe Osei Owusu, popularly known as Joe Wise, has advised the NDC Minority in Parliament against presenting a candidate for the Speaker position in the 9th Parliament.

Speaking on Joy News, he argued that competing for the position would be unproductive and urged the Minority to adopt a different approach to make their voices heard.

He emphasized that their focus should be on presenting alternative viewpoints during debates rather than engaging in contests they are unlikely to win.

Meanwhile, President-elect John Dramani Mahama has endorsed Alban Bagbin as the Minority’s candidate for Speaker, directing NDC MPs to nominate him.

The NPP-dominated 9th Parliament is set for critical decisions ahead.
