Jinapor projects end of dumsor after May maintenance

Energy Minister John Jinapor has assured Ghanaians of improved power supply. He expects significant changes by the end of May. Major maintenance works are ongoing at key power plants.

In an interview with TV3, Jinapor discussed the government's efforts. He mentioned a careful maintenance schedule to restore consistent power delivery.

He said, “Within May, there will be major maintenance. In June, there will be minimal maintenance.” He believes stable power supply is possible if no unforeseen issues arise.

Jinapor noted that many plants need repairs because they have exceeded their optimal life cycles. Servicing these plants is urgent and necessary for reliable energy.

He warned against delaying critical maintenance activities. Delays could damage the plants and worsen the situation.

“If you hold them back too long, you compromise the plant's integrity,” he explained. He urged Ghanaians to understand that these steps are essential.

The government insists that current disruptions are temporary. They are part of technical interventions aimed at ensuring long-term energy stability.
