Former Railways Development Minister, Joe Ghartey, has reaffirmed that the Sky Train Project followed due process, dispelling any doubts after his meeting with National Investigation Bureau (NIB) officials.

Addressing the press, he emphasized that the project was structured as a Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) agreement, ensuring no financial commitments from the Railways Ministry, as confirmed by the 2021 Auditor-General’s report.

Ghartey stressed that safeguards were put in place to prevent the ministry from assuming liabilities for feasibility studies. He expressed full cooperation with the NIB, maintaining that the project was transparent and above board.

His comments follow a similar engagement with former GIIF Board Chairman, Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi, who was also invited to provide insights on the transaction.
