President John Dramani Mahama has blamed the previous Akufo-Addo administration for the lack of textbooks in secondary schools, criticizing the decision to change the curriculum without providing learning materials.

Speaking in Tamale on Saturday, March 22, during his thank-you tour, Mahama assured that his government would resolve the crisis this year. He noted that textbooks would be printed locally to support Ghanaian businesses.

Additionally, he announced that teacher and nursing trainee allowances would now be paid directly by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, ensuring timely disbursement alongside public sector salaries.

Mahama also outlined plans to upgrade the Old Tamale Central Hospital and Tamale Municipal Hospital to reduce pressure on the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

On agriculture, he emphasized the need for irrigation development to address climate change-induced rainfall uncertainties and enhance food production.
