The bribery trial of Alex Kwabena Safo Kantanka, President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for Juaben MCE, has been delayed after the presiding judge, Justice Priscilla Dikro Ofori, was transferred ahead of delivering judgment.
A new judge has taken over, adjourning the case to January 20, 2025, to review the docket.
Safo Kantanka faces 26 counts of election-related corruption for allegedly bribing assembly members to secure approval for his nomination.
A viral 2021 video captured him demanding refunds from members who rejected him, leading to charges by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
Despite concluding the trial, proceedings were delayed as his new legal counsel requested time to file submissions.
The adjournment comes as Ghana approaches a new government after the December 7 elections.
