Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi, has been released from EOCO.
He met the Ghc 50 million bond with two sureties. He could not meet this bond last week.
Justin Koduah announced Wontumi's release. He thanked Dr. Bryan Acheampong for his help in securing the bond.
Koduah condemned using state security against political opponents. He reminded them that they will not always be in power.
He urged party supporters to stay calm. He called on the government to address issues in court, not at EOCO.
According to the Deputy Attorney General, Wontumi is under investigation for fraud and related crimes.
A social media post stated he is being investigated for various criminal offenses. These include fraud, causing financial loss to the State, and money laundering.
The investigation includes asset recovery processes. This aims to prevent further dissipation of suspected proceeds of crime.
Wontumi is also part of a second investigation linked to international organized crime. EOCO is working closely with international law enforcement partners on this case.
