Kwasi Kwarteng is a spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong. He clarified the stabbing of a KNUST student during the NPP’s “Thank You” tour. This incident occurred on Tuesday, April 29, in the Ashanti Region.
Kwarteng stated that the stabbing was not due to a fight between students. Instead, it was an unprovoked attack by a macho man. He dismissed reports suggesting otherwise during an interview on Citi Eyewitness News.
The victim was part of Unity Hall’s Jama group at KNUST. He was stabbed after a confrontation about performance time and money distribution. Kwarteng emphasized that this was not a disagreement between students.
The Jama group had been hired by Agyapong’s team for an event at Bantama Pentecost Church. Tensions rose when attendees complained about their prolonged performance. During this confrontation, one macho man reportedly brandished a gun at the students.
After leaving the venue, they learned about the stabbing incident. At the police station, they heard that the same man who displayed the gun also stabbed a student.
Kwarteng noted that there was also a dispute over money involved in this altercation. However, he clarified that Kennedy Agyapong did not distribute any funds himself. A supporter gave GH¢1,000 for the students to share.
Kwarteng alleged that after receiving the money, macho men forcibly took it back and attacked the students. When students protested about losing their money, some macho men began shooting from their vehicle. Despite fleeing, one student was chased down and stabbed by them.
