Kwabena Agyepong, a former NPP flagbearer aspirant, spoke about the party's future. He emphasized the need to stop blaming others for past mistakes. Instead, he urged the party to learn from its 2024 electoral defeat.
In an interview on Channel One TV’s Face to Face, Agyepong said the party should not be "imprisoned by the past." He believes it is crucial to draw meaningful lessons from their loss. Many party members are dissatisfied with the internal electoral process. They see it as “monetised” and “manipulated.”
Agyepong mentioned a push for a more inclusive system. Some members want to expand voting rights to all card-bearing members. He stated, “I don’t want to go into history because you can’t reverse it.” Learning from defeat is essential for rebuilding.
He rejected calls to identify those responsible for their loss. “I totally disagree,” he said. Blaming individuals does not change their current situation in opposition. Instead, he urged members to focus on regaining public confidence.
Agyepong noted that no corporate entity reveals its strategy publicly. To rebuild trust, they must earn respect and win back supporters. The Oquaye report will guide NPP's future but is not meant for public consumption.
