Renowned legal scholar Professor Kwaku Azar has raised concerns over the prolonged prosecution of seven pro-NDC figures, arguing that justice should not be equated with never-ending trials.
Highlighting that some of these cases have been in court for nearly a decade without convictions, he questioned whether the evidence was ever strong enough to justify the legal battles.
He emphasized that justice requires efficiency and certainty, warning that indefinite prosecutions undermine confidence in the legal system.
Rather than focusing on the decision to drop the cases, he urged a broader reflection on why they failed, calling for reforms to ensure politically sensitive prosecutions are built on strong legal foundations.
He reaffirmed his commitment to accountability but stressed that weak cases should not be pursued indefinitely.
